BigPond Cable and ADSL Members, and Wireless Members on megabyte-based plans, may browse or download from our extensive collection of large files. All files downloaded from this site are provided free-of-charge and they're unmetered, so they don't count towards your monthly usage allowance.

Available files include Windows utilities and drivers, along with a variety of Linux software such as the popular Ubuntu, Debian and Fedora distributions.

PLEASE NOTE that for all BigPond-related files such as login clients and connection software, please visit this page.

NEW: BIGPOND OFFICE - BigPond Office is BigPond's alternative office suite.
All BigPond customers can check it out at the BigPond Office website.

BigPond has removed the OpenOffice software downloads to support the release of this new product.

Ubuntu v9.10 Released!

Friday, 30th October The hot new version of Ubuntu v9.10 has dropped! As always we have mirrors of the ISOs available in our Ubuntu category and our repository mirror is ready to go for people that want to update that way. As always please let us know if you have any feedback!

File Browsing Bug Fixed

Wednesday, 29th July A few users noticed that the 'next' links in the new files list and the sort options have been not functional in the last week or so. This was the result of a change to the site back end which unfortunately created a few issues in some of the navigational elements. A fix for this has just been deployed and the site is now working normally. Thanks to everyone who took the time to report it and apologies for any inconvenience caused. It should be noted that the RSS feed continued to function as normal - if you're looking for an alternative to keeping up-to-date with new additions to the Files Library that is easy to manage and flexible, we'd strongly using the RSS feed, which is available at the following URL: http://files.bigpond.com/rss/files.rss.

Mandriva Repository Added to Mirror

Wednesday, 1st July The BigPond Files Linux repository service has a new member this week with the addition of a Mandriva repository! You can check it out at http://mirror.files.bigpond.com/. It is currently just in testing and only includes the current stable branch (not development). If you have any feedback please let us know!

Ubuntu v9.04 Released!

Friday, 24th April The new Ubuntu has been released! Jaunty Jackalope, or version 9.04 if you prefer the numeric style, is now available for download. As always we have the ISOs available in our Ubuntu Linux section - there's still a few to be released by the looks, so if you see any others you want that aren't available yet make sure you let us know by submitting a File Request! The Ubuntu repository that we host at http://mirror.files.bigpond.com looks like it has updated happily as well. As always, your comments and feedback are appreciated (especially if everything is working well!), so feel free to let us know what's on your mind.

Repository Downtime

Wednesday, 22nd April Just a quick notice; we're having some hardware issues on the BigPond Files Repository Service at the moment which is causing some of the mirrors to lag behind with updates. This will probably cause errors in your update manager software while we work to resolve the problem. Apologies for any inconvenience; rest assured we're working on it as hard as possible (especially in light of the Ubuntu release that is about to happen). Update: The update services have been resumed; the repositories should be fully up-to-date within another 24 hours or so.

New Mirror Repository URL

Tuesday, 2nd December Just a quick update to announce the official URL for the BigPond Files repositories: http://mirror.files.bigpond.com/ The old URL will continue to work for a while but eventually will be redirected to this new one.

Firefox v3.0 Released

Thursday, 19th June After a long wait, Firefox v3.0 has arrived! The next version of the hugely popular free and open source web browser boasts a huge variety of new features. Massively improved performance, better memory usage, the new "Awesomebar", updated download manager - the list goes on. Download the new version right now from BigPond Files - we've got it in Mac OS X, Windows and Linux flavours.

Intermittent Server Issues

Monday, 12th May One of our download servers is currently offline due to a hardware problem. This is causing extreme load at the moment which is resulting in some downloads getting terminated or disconnected before finishing. Please note we are aware of this problem and working on it as a matter of the utmost urgency. In the meantime we encourage users to use a download manager to help minimise problems downloading. Downloads should resume normally (and almost immediately) if your connection is broken. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Ubuntu v8.04 Released

Friday, 25th April Ubuntu v8.04 - the Hardy Heron LTS version - is now available for download. We have mirrors of the major ISOs in our Ubuntu section now. If there's any we've missed that you want, please let us know! Due to the popularity of this release, downloads might be a bit slower than normal today. We'll shuffle things around as best we can to minimise impact but please be patient if your downloads are going a little slower than normal.

FreeBSD v7.0 RELEASE Out Now

Thursday, 28th February The RELEASE edition of FreeBSD v7.0 is now available for download. We've got both the i386 and AMD64 distributions available - head over to our FreeBSD section to nab the ISOs now.
